Bransoft Copy

We have made available a free utility which can be used to copy a folder from one location to another. Please note that the alternative location should be a different hard disk (or another form of media) and not just a different partition on the same hard disk, this is because if that hard disk should fail you will loose both the current data and your backup data at the same time.

This utility should be installed on the same computer as to where the program data is held (ie - the computer where the main program installation was carried out) and is run each time the computer is started by using a shortcut in the startup directory of your computer. You are able to set within the program, paths to the source directory and to the destination directory, you are also able to set the days in which Bransoft Copy should run. This is done by editing a Copy.ini file located within the Windows directory.

Installing and Setting up Bransoft Copy

Click here to download the installation file. Once downloaded double click on the file to install it on the same computer as your Bransoft program was installed on to. You now need to edit the Copy.ini file located within your Windows directory by setting the source (where the program directory is - this is where the data is stored) and destination (where you want to backup the data to) paths. When the backup takes place a subfolder will be created inside the destination path named the current date. The program files will then be copied into this subfolder each time your computer is logged on. You can also edit the days in which you want Bransoft Copy to run by editing the Copy.ini file.

We recommend you still keep the Backup reminder enabled within IT Inventory as you will need to delete backup files from time to time, other wise you may fill up the hard disk where you are backing up to. This is also a good check to ensure the backup process is working correctly.
